INSPIRE THE YOUTH.

Dyer Kelly Elementary School, Sacramento

Dyer Kelly Elementary School, Sacramento

DIAKADI Trainer and DS+P Small Group Class Instructor, Paul Wright, is volunteering his time to speak with the young kids at Dyer Kelly Elementary School in Sacramento about his Jamaican roots, his personal experience through school and sport, his current life and career, New Years resolutions, and favorite subjects in school. He's providing a positive message with conversation and exercise, throwing in fun movement activities in their sessions with Paul.

With the urge to inspire the youth, Wright says,
"My goal of these visits is to leave them with an inspiring FEELING to be as much as themselves as they can be and know that the world is completely THEIRS."

commit to fit.

DIAKADI's Commit to Fit (2009 - 2014) is an obesity scholarship program awarded each year to one deserving obese resident of the San Francisco Bay Area with the desire to lose weight and embrace a healthier lifestyle. Each recipient receives a nutrition plan and fitness training program to help them focus on reconnecting with their body through exercise, monitoring of their sleep and stress, the identification of eating strategies and establishing clear and attainable goals.

Our previous Commit to Fit winners have lost up to 180 lbs over the course of their program!

In this program, San Francisco's Public Works' joins with neighborhoods and local businesses to assist with sweeping and picking up streets throughout the city. As a business or individual, you are provided with a process, equipment, and assistance to adopt your own street.

DIAKADI GALLERY.

Since opening in 2004, DIAKADI has worked together with local artists to host inspiring work within our space in order to assist with motivating our clients during their daily workouts, while also introducing them to the incredibly talented pool of Bay Area artists.

The next time you visit DIAKADI, we welcome you to take a moment, step back and observe the current pieces on display. If you become particularly attached to a piece, you don't have to come all the way to DIAKADI to enjoy it. In true art gallery fashion, all pieces are also for sale.

If you are a local artist and you are interested in displaying your collection within our facility, please drop us an email at info@diakadi.life.

I was invited to display my work through my dear friend and fellow artist, Cameron Moberg. We met years ago from being in the SF street art scene and struck up an immediate friendship that has carried through to the present day. He has asked a number of his artist friends to show work at DIAKADI, and I was honored to be invited recently. I was unfamiliar with DIAKADI before this opportunity, but from the moment I stepped into the facility to see the space I was impressed. There is a professionalism and welcoming atmosphere that I have not seen at other gyms. I am particularly impressed with the holistic health side of DIAKADI, in recognizing the systems of body, mind, emotions and spirit. I take my nutrition seriously as a vegan, I meditate regularly, I go trail running and do my own home calisthenics, but should I want to go somewhere to pursue these practices more, I’ll go to DIAKADI.

I was invited to show my photography at DIAKADI a few months ago. I had actually trained there several years prior, so I knew (and really liked) the space, but I wasn’t sure how it would work with my photography. Ultimately, the industrial yet warm feel, and the open layout, really made my work stand out. I was very pleasantly surprised. Even better, Jason, Aurora and the staff were super helpful, incredibly flexible and overall a true pleasure to work with… The positive feedback from the clientele was amazing, and I am thrilled to have several pieces hanging in clients’ and trainer’s homes. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to show my work at DIAKADI – and hope someday to be invited to again.

When DIAKADI first contacted me about showing my work I was quite skeptical. My first thought was that a gym was not an ideal place to show my work but I could not have been more wrong. When I walked into the beautiful loft like space, met the people who work there and learned about their clientele I changed my mind and I’m so grateful I did! Once the show was up I received a lot of positive feedback, including requests for commissioned works, one of which I’m presently working on. The people who work at DIAKADI were incredibly helpful and supportive throughout the entire experience and I really appreciate all their work and professionalism. It was an amazing experience and I hope to show my work there again in the future.
