Joshua Berkovic believes we can explore our potential, inspire positive relationships, and enhance our quality of life through effective training. Josh’s passion for developing himself, and helping others to do the same, has been a guiding force throughout his life.

Josh employs a holistic training approach, based on principles of exercise and sports science, that emphasizes strength, conditioning, functional mobility, athletic performance, and rehabilitation. He is a lifelong athlete, certified yoga instructor, and mixed martial arts champion. Josh served as head strength and conditioning coach at the world-renowned El Nino Training Center for six years and for the past decade has trained, coached, and mentored a variety of individuals from youth to elite professional athletes.

I was 5 feet and 220 pounds when I began working with Josh, and within a year was down 50 pounds despite not having made any changes to my diet or doing more than 12 min of cardio a week.

Unlike other trainers, Josh didn’t begin our relationship by promising me gains and getting excited about the hard work ahead. He asked me what I wanted to achieve...and then built a smart and approachable program towards that goal adjusting for the body limitations I had developed over two decades. 

For example, I’ve always had trouble with a simple pushup and was told by other trainers to fix this by trying more and more pushups. Instead of relentless and endless attempts at boot camp style pushups, which never yielded results, Josh identified issues with my shoulder and back muscle integration. We spent months activating these connections through small isolations and viola - the push up became easily available. 

His integrative evidence based approach to movement gave me the confidence to stick with non-traditional exercises knowing that free and easy movement was around the corner. 

I would recommend Josh to anyone, but especially to people who appreciate evidence-based training, who haven’t made significant strength gains through traditional boot camp or weight training, and who want to become not just stronger and faster be also freer with their movements.
