My son and I are doing some extended travel on the east coast, which will be a great time to catch up with friends and family, introduce them to my boy, and — most importantly, at least for this blog — give me a chance to practice what I’ve learned in the Commit to Fit process without the day-to-day support of Billy and Sarah.

I’ve been in a bit of a holding pattern lately, it seems. I continue to exercise regularly with Billy and do long walks on my own, and continue to restrict calories and make good food choices, but I’m simply not dropping weight at the rate I was early in the program. It’s time to mix things up a bit, and I’m hoping to do that while traveling - both in terms of incorporating some running into my exercise routine, and in terms of eating more frequent smaller meals to boost my metabolism. We’ll see how it goes! It’s good practice for after the program ends in March, when I’ll be working on being accountable to myself rather than Sarah and Billy. I know I can do it, and this little break is like riding the bike with training wheels for a few weeks.

In other news, I’ve decided to give away/sell my plus-sized clothing, now that I’m no longer plus-sized, for the most part. This is harder than I expected, even though I’m happy about the changes. These are clothes I loved and felt good in, though they don’t really fit anymore. I’m not yet in a place where I’m ready to invest in new clothes, since I hope to lose more weight, so most of what I have now is either more than a few years old from when I was a smaller size, or very inexpensive pieces designed to get me through the transition. I’m finding I miss having the options of my really nice larger pieces, now that I have only a few things that fit well. That said, I’m really committed to the idea that I’m not going to be plus-sized again, and getting rid of those clothes, even though I really liked them, helps put that boundary in place.
