Author | Psoas Massage and Bodywork Who needs this exercise?
Desk workers, musicians, writers, artists, carpenters and people who work with their hands and arms a lot.
Fascia is a deep layer of connective tissue that surrounds your muscles, connects muscles together and even surrounds organs. Typical stretches address muscles, but it is important to incorporate fascial stretches into your routine as well. Fascia can also be treated via different massage techniques, including Myofascial Release.
For the best results:
- Place your fingertips on the wall with your palms facing upward.
- Make sure your arm is straight.
- This is a light stretch. You aren't looking for the end range like when you are stretching the muscle. Hold the stretch for 2 minutes on each arm.
- Holding the stretch for this period of time will allow the fascia to change its form and stretch out. This change will last for a while.
Note: If you feel pain and/or numbness during the exercise, discontinue until checking with a professional.
