Origin: Rhomboids Major (Spinous Process of T2-T4), Rhomboids Minor (Spinous Process of C1-T1)

Insertion:

  • Rhomboids Major (Medial Border of the Scapula between the Spine of the Scapula and the inferior angle)
  • Rhomboids Minor  ( Superior Border of the Scapula)

Action:

  • Both Major and Minor are Synergists (work with another muscle) to the Trapezius when retracting the Scapula (pulling the shoulder blade closer to mid-line of body).
  • Both Major and Minor are Synergists with Pec Minor and Levator Scapula in downward rotation of the Scapula.
  • Both muscles lie underneath the Trapezius muscle and is difficult to develop and grow
