BIO.

I have been working out for more than 25 years, and have been a Personal Trainer for over a decade. In that time, I have learned what a difference good form, proper workout technique, and good nutrition can make to both body and mind. My goal has always been to make “working out” a safe, enjoyable, and productive experience for my clients.

Science has brought us much information about how physical fitness and nutrition influences changes in our bodies. It's my job as a trainer to make sure I get this information (based on goals we set together) to you. By creating a realistic program, tailored to your specific needs and requirements, I can help you achieve your goals, motivate you, and help you remain energized and happy. 

Having studied a variety of fitness techniques throughout the years, I know the importance of working out with correct form and posture. Above all else, we need to protect our bodies from injury while working toward our fitness goals. That’s why it’s so important to avoid unnecessarily stressing our bones, joints, and tendons. 

I’ll work with you to design a program that helps you safely achieve your fitness goals, while at the same time keeping you motivated and energized.  I’ll also make sure you have the tools and information necessary to integrate fitness into your everyday life, for the rest of your life.

Anyone can come to the gym for an hour or so. It's the other 23 hours a day outside the gym that can influence our body composition. When it comes to nutrition, there is no better saying than “you are what you eat”. What we put in our bodies influences our weight, energy, and mental state. In addition to a sound workout program, it is my desire to lead you in the proper direction to healthier eating habits.

I have worked with all ages and skill levels, from athletes, to first timers in the gym, from high schoolers to retirees. I have spent my life being active, from cycling, hiking, skiing and backpacking the wilderness of California. We all have different ways of being active, and it's important to make sure our workouts mirror this.

We all have something we want to achieve from personal training, mine was weight loss and more importantly weight management. Alex helped me look at the food choices I was making and how those impacted what I wanted to achieve. Exercise and Calories is what I needed to focus on, and the calories part was something I personally needed a lot of help on. With Alex's personal training I not only get guidance on the exercises in the gym, but also the guidance outside of the gym as Alex's looks at the entire picture, not just when you meet with him 2-3 times a week. I now know the right balance of foods that I should be eating and with that help I am able to set short term goals that will lead to my ultimate goal.

I’ve been training with Alex for the past 17 years. What I like about Alex vs. my experience with other trainers is that:

Alex pushes me to be my best and maximize my potential. I know I’ve worked out after a session with Alex. I didn’t feel the same with other trainers. For me, this is one of the main reasons I need a trainer. I don’t know about you, but my tendency is to quit too soon and not push myself to do those last couple of reps. Alex always motivates me to do those last couple of reps!

Alex creates varied programs to ensure I don’t fall into the ‘muscle memory’ syndrome where I’m not getting benefit from my workouts. He puts the thought, time and energy into creating the best program for me to meet my goals. I like the fact that I never know what Alex is going to throw in my direction on a given day, making my sessions not only a great work out but also fun!

My programs with Alex usually consisted of doing exercises in combination to maximize my time with him and ensure that I got a great full-body workout, respecting the fact that I have a busy schedule and don’t have the time to spend hours at the gym. Alex has helped me to work out more intelligently.

Alex helped me improve my diet. He is a realist in this area and knows my philosophy is that life is too short to just eat tofu and skinless chicken every day! I’ve still been able to increase my lean muscle mass and get rid of the ‘belly’ I had when I first met Alex without sacrificing all of the comfort foods

Alex always ensures we get through the entire workout planned for that day in the time allotted. We still have time to talk about health and fitness as well as current events without sacrificing part of the workout.
